Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for performing engineering process development and testing activities to support manufacturing of gas centrifuges to support the enrichment of UF6. The ideal candidate will have experience following engineering processes and procedures and will be knowledgeable in subject areas such as rotordynamics, dynamic testing, signal processing, and software development.

What You'll Do:

  • Empirical and simulated rotordynamics leveraging existing tools and development of new techniques and engineering software
  • Software development: data acquisition, digital signal processing, and analysis of high-speed signals
  • Dynamic testing including experimental modal analysis (EMA)
  • Test design and automation
  • Model verification and validation
  • Participate in reviews of technical designs and papers as either the primary engineer or a panel member.
  • Accomplishing complex engineering assignments in your specialty. Makes independent decisions on engineering problems and methods.
  • Preparation and presentation of routine and special engineering reports and other design documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related fields of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience may include:
    • Rotordynamics
    • Dynamic testing
    • Digital signal processing (DSP)
    • Software development in Python
    • Finite element analysis (FEA) in ANSYS
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

Optional Desired Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Preference may be given to candidates with a higher level of experience.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance
