Job description

Overview

SUMMER 2027

Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

Theย Acoustical Engineering Internย will assist with the design, prototyping, and testing of cutting-edge acoustical systems under the supervision of senior staff.ย 

This Internship is Onsite in Niles, IL.

Responsibilities
  • Design and Simulation:ย Assist with the design, modeling, and simulation of acoustic systems and components.ย 
  • Signal Processing:ย Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of DSP techniques for acoustic system analysis, tuning, and performance optimization.ย 
  • System Prototyping:ย Build and modify prototypes to support acoustic design investigations and engineering evaluations.ย 
  • Testing and Measurement:ย Perform acoustic and electro-acoustic measurements, including frequency response, sensitivity, impedance, and related performance metrics.ย 
  • Subjective Evaluation:ย Participate in structured listening evaluations to assess prototype performance and inform design improvements.ย 
  • Project Support:ย Organize test data, document methods and results, and communicate findings clearly to engineering team members.ย 
Qualifications
  • Completion of at least two years of coursework toward a degree in Physics, Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, or a related field.ย 
  • Basic experience with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, or hardware/software tools for acoustic and electro-acoustic measurements is a plus.ย 
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering team environment.ย 
  • Strong interest in electro-acoustical transducers, acoustic systems, audio signal processing, or related technologies.ย 
  • Experience in live sound production, live performance, audio recording, or audio system setup is desirable.ย
