Position Summary
The Signage Installation Specialist is responsible for installing standalone signs and monuments, digital displays, backlit letters, and graphics on a variety of surfaces, including walls, windows, and vehicles. This role also conducts pre-installation site surveys to confirm project feasibility and support accurate fabrication and installation planning. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the sign and graphics industry, works well independently and as part of a team, and takes pride in delivering a finished product that meets client expectations. This position reports to the Signs amp; Graphics Operations Manager.
Essential Functions
  • Site Surveys: Conduct pre-installation site surveys and field measurements; evaluate site conditions, access, and potential installation challenges; verify dimensions, mounting surfaces, utilities, and structural conditions; document findings with photographs, sketches, and detailed notes; and communicate findings to project managers, designers, and production staff to ensure accurate fabrication and installation planning.
  • Installation: Ensure signs, graphics, and monuments meet client specifications for spacing, location, and function; prepare sites by removing old signage, preparing surfaces or structures, and securing electrical connections; and ensure accurate measurement, placement, connection, and installation.
  • Site Logistics amp; Safety: Load and transport signs, tools, and materials to install locations safely; clear debris and materials from the site after each installation; perform maintenance and repairs to signs as needed; and operate and maintain tools and equipment in accordance with all company safety policies and guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Field customer questions and feedback professionally, representing Team Modern with a customer-first mindset.
  • Any additional task assigned by manager; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
We're seeking an installer who takes pride in precision, safety, and craftsmanship. The Signage Installation Specialist should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, communicate professionally with customers, and be motivated by seeing a finished installation done right.
Required Qualifications amp; Skills:
  • 2+ years of experience as a sign installer or similar trades experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation instructions, blueprints, and site survey requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of various types of signage, including vinyl, channel letters, electrical signs, and road signs.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Able to perform strenuous labor including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
  • A willingness to work overtime during evenings and on weekends as necessary to complete scheduled projects on time.
Physical Demands
Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Some install jobs are small, solo installs; others are large, team installs.
Work Environment / Schedule
Monday-Friday; start time 8:00 AM; expected hours per week: 40 +/-. Overtime as necessary – most days are a typical 8-hour workday, but some are 10-12-hour workdays when a job requires it. Employees report to the home office (sign shop) to retrieve signs and tools, travel to worksites, and use ladders, lifts, and similar equipment. Worksite territory includes Kentucky and Tennessee.
