Job description

WHAT WE NEED…

STG Design is a dynamic company with an integrated approach to architecture, interior design, and master planning. Our Interior Design team in Austin is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex, full-cycle projects from initial client discovery through construction completion. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for crafting spaces that are not only visually compelling but purposefully designed — spaces that serve each client's unique goals and reflect the communities they inhabit.

We value leaders who embrace the full complexity of a project — managing scope, budget, schedule, and documentation with precision while keeping the client at the center of every decision. This role calls for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, builds trust across project teams and consultant partners alike, and approaches every new challenge with both creative rigor and adaptability. With 6–10 years of professional experience and a command of the tools and technical knowledge that bring interiors to life, you will be instrumental in guiding projects — and people — forward.

Join a firm committed to design excellence, where forward-thinking professionals are empowered to shape spaces that matter. We are growing our team with driven, curious leaders who are ready to make a lasting contribution to the work — and to the people who experience it.

WHAT YOU’LL DO….

You’ll join the interiors studio, which focuses on producing functionally beautiful spaces for clients by combining creativity and technical knowledge. Depending on the day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Consulting with clients to determine function and spatial requirements, and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Serve as a primary client liaison to satisfy the client’s goals.
  • Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts as needed.
  • Implement all phases of a design project which includes contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, and construction (including the selection and specification of furniture).
  • Inspire, plan, organize, and manage the work of project teams.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative and professional working relationship across teams.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with consultants, contractors, and agencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS…

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program.
  • 6-10 years of professional experience, inclusive of at least 2 years of project management experience in Interiors projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of furniture types, vendors, fixtures, and equipment, as well as architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art, and signage to carry out design intent.
  • Proficiency in Revit required.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize activities and provide high quality service to clients.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal management skills.
  • Experience negotiating project scope and fees and ability to keep projects on track within deadlines, budget, and scope.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS…

  • Knowledge of Rhino a plus.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD, SketchUp preferred
  • Understanding of local building codes and standards.

WHAT WE EXPECT…

We value people who want to immerse themselves in creativity, collaboration, being at the forefront of innovation, and approach design inquisitively and thoughtfully. We are looking for people who are:

  • Interesting – We want people who can provide unique insight into our clients’ problems and contribute to their solutions in unexpected ways.
  • Great communicators – if you can’t spread your message, you can’t deliver results.
  • Self-starters – We want people who don’t wait for direction; they find the next task and get started.
  • Ready learners – We want people who are excited to add another tool to their repertoire.
  • Adaptable – We look for people who find the right context and right solution for the task at hand.
  • Tech savvy – Revit, Adobe CC, and Bluebeam are all musts.
WHAT’S NEXT

If you’re excited, we’re excited! Please fill out the online form for further consideration. We’ll be in touch soon with the next steps.
