General Purpose
The Installation Apprentice / Shopman works under the guidance of a Journeyman or Lead Installer to assist in sign installation. This role combines shop-based fabrication and preparation with on-site installation work, providing hands-on training to develop the skills needed for advancement. We value safety, quality, and teamwork in delivering high-standard sign projects.
A Day in the Life
You will split your time between the shop and the field. In the shop, you will prepare materials, tools, and hardware for upcoming jobs. On-site, you will assist with assembling, positioning, and securing signs, performing light electrical work, and helping ensure each installation meets YESCO's safety and quality standards. You will travel to job locations, learn to read blueprints, and work with team members across departments to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review blueprints and job orders to prepare tools and materials
  • Assist with loading, transporting, and unloading sign components
  • Support installation work, including light electrical and lighting replacement tasks
  • Complete required documentation for installation projects
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in shop and field environments
  • Follow all company safety guidelines and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management, as needed to meet business needs

Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
  • 1+ year of construction, fabrication, or related experience preferred
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and work orders
  • Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, and basic electrical work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work at heights and in outdoor conditions
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Climb, crawl, bend, and work at heights
  • Stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in various environments
  • Use of hands and arms for reaching, handling, and operating tools
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and perform a variety of tasks as needed
