Job description

The Graphic Designer II develops design direction and material for certain internal and external communications projects that matches overall company design and stays within design guidelines set forth by the department project manager and manager. In addition, this position produces a variety of communications items including signs, posters, printed brochures/flyers, electronic communications, presentations, T-shirts, etc.; and assists with asset archives including layouts, photographs, graphics, textual documents, multimedia, web pages and digitized files.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Assists with the production and graphic design of the customer magazine, Duncan Debrief, company employee newsletter, advertisements, and other print and digital marketing communications projects.
  1. Organizes media assets created for or used by Marketing Communications including converting media files from one format to another; scanning, retouching, resizing and color correcting media; determining best media/file type for requested use and delivering media files to requestor by printing, e-mailing or burning to disc; archiving media files, photographs and graphics; and searches for and retrieving archived files for internal and external contacts.
  1. Oversees and art-directs creative development of specific direct marketing pieces for Duncan Aviation, as assigned by the project manager. Develops concepts and reviews materials, photographs and/or artwork for use in the layout. Creates comprehensive layouts for publication. Visually communicates products or services in a manner that appeals to the target audience, within time and space constraints.
  1. Takes photos, coordinates photography with external resources and creates graphics for marketing and advertising materials including interacting with internal and external clients in arranging, manipulating and creating graphics and photos.
  1. Obtains competitive bids for specific projects and interfaces with outside agencies for design, photography and print productions. Supervises production stages including arranging and supervising printing.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field or equivalent required
  • Minimum three years communications, marketing, and/or graphic design experience required
  • Previous aviation communications experience preferred
  • General database software knowledge required
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, use of CMS systems preferred
  • Proficiency with various layout and graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator
  • Proficiency with printing, photography and media management processes
