About the role
- The Production Technician operates and monitors highly automated equipment ranging from Vacuum Induction Melt (VIM) furnaces to automated finishing cells to manufacture high-quality metal powders and ingots. This role follows standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety and quality systems, and works cross-functionally to meet daily production targets, yields, and on-time delivery commitments to our customers.
What you'll do
- Follow all safety rules, wear required PPE, maintain a clean work area, and identify safety improvement opportunities.
- Operate equipment following written procedures and supervisory instructions per aerospace quality standards.
- Work as part of a team, communicate during shift handoffs, and participate in training and continuous improvement efforts.
- Monitor process indicators and escalate identified abnormalities to organizational leadership.
- Collect samples, perform housekeeping, and complete equipment cleaning and setup.
- Support melting operations by preparing raw materials, staging tools, and assisting during setup and shutdown.
- Help with mold preparation, post-run cleanup, and basic inspections under supervision.
- Operate finishing equipment such as sieves, blenders, abrasive saws, and grinders.
- Handle, label, and package materials according to work instructions and quality requirements.
- Perform basic visual inspections and assist with quality sampling.
- Accurately complete production records, checklists, and electronic entries.
Qualifications
Required
- A safety focused mindset and the ability to work in PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, respirators, and heat-resistant gear as required)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read/interpret SOPs, product recipes, and production reports.
- Basic computer skills for MES/ERP entries; comfortable with barcode scanners and electronic logs.
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to work in PPE (respirators, heat-resistant gear).
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and occasional overtime.
Preferred
- 2+ years' experience in metal manufacturing or related industrial environment.
- Experience with induction melting and post processing equipment.
- Familiarity with particle size analysis, sieving/classification, and powder handling best practices.
