Overview

The Field Preventive Maintenance Technician performs field service inspections/general preventative maintenance based on customer service agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform comprehensive oil, filter, and lubrication services, including checking and filling fluid levels to O.E.M. specifications.
  • Adhere to all documented Customer Service Agreement processes and guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed lube records for all work performed.
  • Take required Scheduled Oil Samples (SOS) on components on the machine.
  • Provide customers with service reports, oil samples, and inspection paperwork as work is performed.
  • Inspect equipment for external signs of potential component failure.
  • Inspect and report any inoperable safety devices or conditions.
  • Prepare accurate and complete service reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure field lube trucks are service-ready, including maintaining customer service fluid supplies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper startup and shutdown procedures of CAT equipment.
  • Flexibility to work after hours as needed, to meet customer demands.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or (GED) equivalent. 
  • One year experience servicing heavy equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of safely operating heavy construction equipment. 
  • Basic heavy equipment service/maintenance knowledge. 
  • Able to perform machine inspections.
  • Ability to operate a service vehicle. 
  • Organizational and time management skills required. Must have the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines.
  • Must be a Team player that is enthusiastic and hard working with the ability to complete work with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with solid written and oral communication skills is required.
  • Must possess the personal discipline to establish the proper image as a representative of Blanchard Machinery with the ability to meet and work with the customer in a professional manner.
  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations. 
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced service environment. 
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.). 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record. 
  • Able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Must be able to lift varied weight.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
