Job description

We are hiring for our Transition to Practice Program supporting newly licensed nurses interested in Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing!
The program is open to newly licensed nurses who have graduated with a BSN or ASN degree after November 2025 or have recently graduated and are pursuing a Practice Transition Program in an acute care setting.
Tufts Medicine Melrose Wakefield Hospital's Transition to Practice Program has been developed following the guidelines for Transition to Practice Programs outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. ANCC sets the global standard for programs supporting newly licensed nurses. MWH is pursuing ANCC Accreditation by early 2028.
This 1-year program includes:
  • Structured unit-based orientation (12 weeks for adult medical)
  • Live interactive classes every two months supplemented by flexible asynchronous online learning
  • Structured debriefing
  • Structured mentorship
  • Immersion in evidence-based practice and narrative nursing

To be considered, you must complete an online application and attach your resume and a cover letter which clarifies your professional goals.
We are offering placements in Inpatient Adult Medicine for this session. Current employees of Tufts Medicine MelroseWakefield Hospital receive first consideration.
Timeline:
  • Conducting interviews in September 2026!
  • Decisions will be announced: Beginning of October 2026!
  • A program start date of November 9, 2026!

Qualifications:
  • Graduating from an accredited nursing program with an ASN or BSN between November 2025 and October 2026.
  • Valid Massachusetts RN license by start of program
  • Valid Basic Life Support certification by start of program
  • Must be willing to make at least a one-year commitment to remain with MWH upon completion of the program (a total of at least two years at MWH)
