The compensation for this role is $40 per hour.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
CF&I Recycling is seeking an experienced Lead Shredder Mechanic (Night Shift) to support the safe and efficient operation of our Denver shredding facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of shredder-related equipment while providing guidance and support to fellow mechanics and operators.

The ideal candidate is a skilled maintenance professional with shredder experience, strong welding capabilities, and a safety-first mindset. You will play a key role in maximizing equipment uptime, preventing failures, and ensuring operational goals are achieved.

  • Promotes safety with co-workers and has the ability to stop work when a potential unsafe act or condition is identified.
  • Maintains and repairs conveyors, bearing shafts, head pulleys, tail pulleys, gearboxes, and safely performs hammer and mill liner change-outs.
  • Ensures all work areas are clean, tidy, and free from unsafe conditions at all times.
  • Assists the management team with planning projects by providing input and recommendations to initiate the safest, most efficient, and effective approach.
  • Monitors and inspects equipment to prevent failures before they occur.
  • Understands monthly shred commitments to the mill and assists with coordinating rail car shipments to reduce demurrage charges.
  • Understands the costs associated with specific repairs and their impact on the bottom line.
  • Mentors fellow employees by sharing skills and knowledge and encouraging feedback and input.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead the shredder team.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • 3-5 years' experience working on shredders
  • 3-5 years in the metal/nonmetal mining industry will be an asset
  • 3-5 years of Welding experience D1.1
  • Ability to push, pull and/or lift up to 70 lbs
  • Must be fluent in verbal and written English
  • Ability to follow directives
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record required
  • Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and listens carefully in an open candid and consistent manner.
  • Occasional additional hours, including weekends, may be required depending on operational needs.
