Job Title: Project Manager (Mechanical)

Job Description

This role oversees complex engineering and manufacturing projects from initial client engagement through successful completion. The Project Manager coordinates cross-functional teams, develops and executes comprehensive project plans, and ensures projects meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives. The position requires strong leadership, excellent client-facing communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with clients to gather detailed project requirements, clarify ordering briefs, and confirm specific needs for each project.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, and share these plans with clients and internal staff.
  • Delegate project tasks effectively and work closely with Engineering and Production teams on a regular basis to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Track project performance and milestones, analyzing the successful completion of both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Monitor project budgets, meet financial objectives, and adjust project constraints based on ongoing financial analysis.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills to guide project teams, resolve issues, and drive accountability.
  • Lead a weekly Critical Jobs follow-up meeting to review project status, identify risks, and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Coordinate project engineering activities and ensure technical requirements are clearly communicated and executed.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing inventory control practices related to project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and updates for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Communicate proactively with high-profile customers, providing clear updates, managing expectations, and addressing concerns promptly.

Essential Skills

  • 5–10 years of experience in project management, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering-focused environment.
  • Proven experience in project coordination and project engineering activities.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project and other collaboration and time management tools.
  • Advanced time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret project performance data and financial metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for reporting, tracking, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Jobscope is a plus.
  • Experience with process improvement and inventory control in a project setting.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills, including the ability to manage high-profile customers professionally and confidently.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering experience is a plus, particularly in environments that integrate engineering and manufacturing.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer or in engineering-related project roles is beneficial.
  • SolidWorks experience is a plus and helpful for collaborating with engineering and design teams.
  • Background in manufacturing operations or industrial environments is advantageous.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in Valley City within a manufacturing and engineering-focused environment. The Project Manager works closely with Engineering, Production, and other operational teams, using tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and an ERP system (with Jobscope as a preferred platform). The role involves regular in-person meetings, including a weekly Critical Jobs follow-up session, and requires frequent interaction with high-profile customers. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, clear communication, and continuous process improvement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
