Title: Training Coordinator

Job: Hiring/Training

Department: Store Operations

Supervised by: General Store Manager / Assistant Store Managers

Job Summary: To perform responsibilities by participating in the recruiting, interviewing/hiring, orientation and overseeing the training of all associates in conjunction with the store management team. This individual is accountable for facilitating and managing the performance measurement process and monitoring the ongoing training and development of existing associates as well as implementing all human resources strategies to assure a high level of associate commitment and job satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand the English language;

bi-lingual in English/Spanish helpful.

Ability to perform basic math skills.

Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, pull and lift up to 25 lbs

Ability to work in varying temperatures.

Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.

Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.

Must exhibit the utmost professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with prospective candidates and co-workers and their personal information.

Meet all work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

Job Responsibilities:

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.

Complete all applicable department training programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Comply with all ShopRite Service Priorities.

Project a positive Company image

Be knowledgeable of store operations, departments represented and essential job functions for all positions in the store.

Ability to act with a sense of urgency, even under pressure

Maintain and establish effective use of in-store recruitment tools; i.e., displays, signs, posters, etc.

Conduct the initial interview to ensure that company policy and legal guidelines are followed.

Evaluate all potential associates for positions available by administering and gathering feedback from applications, assessments, background/reference checks, where appropriate.

Schedule follow up interview for department manager/store management team.

Participate in the job offer process.

Communicate all hiring information which is critical to the candidate's success

Complete all new-hire paperwork

Schedule and conduct orientation(s)

Ensure the new associate understands the orientation procedures and policies

Communicate who the new associates are with store management

Be familiar with all available training store/web-based, ShopRite University and outside classes as appropriate.

Coordinate all training for associates

Monitor and provide feedback on the progress of training for associates and advise Training Coordinator of any concerns.

Review the training checklist with the department manager and trainer prior to distribution to new associate.

Coordinate with department managers and store personnel the 30 or 60 day performance evaluation on all new hires.

Coordinate and schedule OSHA training for all new and existing associates.

Support corporate initiatives to ensure that the store has up-to-date training records including skills training for safety and sanitation, OSHA, violence in the workplace, sexual harassment, HIPAA, Tobacco & alcohol compliance as well as other scheduled classes.

Must be able to handle administrative functions including: workmen's compensation, OSHA, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), payroll records, etc.

Job Requirements

Minimum of 2 years' experience within a strong retail orientation, preferably grocery

College graduate preferred

Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of Web-based training, Lotus notes and web-based application programs.

Ability to facilitate meetings and orientation sessions as needed.

Ability to communicate effectively with candidates and co-workers.

Articulates ideas, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

Communicates with confidence and professionalism to a variety of audiences.

Ability to pay attention to detail.

Ability to organize and coordinate a variety of tasks

Continuous education through college-level courses to support job requirements.

Complete ShopRite University certification on Recruitment and Retention

Ability to maintain and foster good relations across departments and understands the necessity of keeping lines of communication open.

Can accurately collect and process all paperwork associated with the Company's hiring and training policies.

Can accurately complete, with legible handwriting, all necessary forms and documents associated with the Company's hiring and training policies.
