Shopper Marketing Managerย

The Shopper Marketing Manager develops and executes shopper marketing strategies that drive conversion, household penetration, and basket size across Duke Cannonโ€™s most strategicย customers: Mass (Target, Walmart), Club, and E-commerce (Amazon, retailer.com). This role translates brand strategy into customer-specific in-store and digital experiences โ€” from end-cap displays to A+ Amazon content โ€” partnering closely with Sales, Brand, Creative, and Operations to win the shelf and grow the business at retail.ย 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

Shopperย Strategy & Annual Planningย 

  • Develop annual shopper marketing plans aligned to brand, sales, and categoryย objectivesย across Mass, Club and E-commerce/Amazon.ย 

  • Partner with Sales account leads to align shopper activation calendars to key retailer moments (Fatherโ€™s Day, back-to-school, holiday,ย New year/New you).ย 

  • Marketingย leadย forย all retail meeting needs (sizzle reels, surround plans, etc.)ย 

  • Input into category narratives and joint businessย plansย to support customer line reviews.ย 

Program Development & Executionย 

  • Lead end-to-end execution of shopper programs including, but not limited to,ย sampling, in-aisle signage, and POP.ย 

  • Manage retailer-specific creative briefs and oversee production withย the internalย creative team.ย 

  • Build andย oversee the agency executingย digital shopper programs across retailer media networks: Roundel (Target), Walmart Connectย andย Amazon.ย ย 

  • Initiates &ย Optimizesย the creative forย digital shelf:ย PDP content, A+ / Premium A+ย content,ย brand storeย content, etc.ย Collaborating with the marketplace specialist to deploy assets.ย ย 

  • Develop test-and-learn frameworks for new channels, formats, and retailers.ย 

  • Own the relationship with keyย affiliateย partners likeย ibottaย & Fetch.ย ย 

Budget & Vendor Managementย 

  • Own the shopper marketing budget across assigned channels, including forecasting, accruals, invoice management, quarterlyย reconciliationย and work with sales to haveย lineย ofย sightย to Vendor income.ย ย 

  • Manage external vendors (sampling partners, retailer mediaย agency, etc.) with clear scopes, timelines, and performance expectations.ย 

Insights & Performanceย 

  • Define program KPIs (incremental lift, ROAS, share gain, velocity, repeat rate) and lead post-program performance reviews.ย 

  • Recommend and gain alignment on retail media KPIโ€™s andย in yearย optimizations.ย ย 

  • Translate complex data into clear, action-oriented recommendations for cross-functional leadership.ย 

Cross-Functional Leadershipย 

  • Serve as the primary marketing liaison to Sales forย keyย accounts;ย participateย in customer line reviews and top-to-tops as needed.ย 

  • Collaborate with Brand, Creative, Trade,ย Salesย Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure programs are strategic, on-brand, and operationallyย feasible.ย 

  • Champion theย shopper'sย voice in brand and innovation discussions.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

Requiredย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.ย 

  • 5-7 years of CPG shopper marketing or customer marketing experience.ย ย 

  • Direct experience activating with Targetย andย Walmart.ย Experience with Club and Amazon is a plus.ย 

  • Working knowledge of retailer media networks, media KPIโ€™s,ย in-store programming production cycles, and digital shelf optimization.ย 

  • Experience overseeing a retail media agency.ย ย 

  • Demonstrated budget management and project management skills with multiple workstreams in flight.ย 

  • Strong communicationย skills โ€” able to influence cross-functional partners and external retailer stakeholders.ย 

  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfort with syndicated data tools and project management software.ย 

Preferredย 

  • Experience in personal care, HBA, menโ€™s grooming, or another adjacent category.ย 

  • Track recordย with growing orย challengerย brands inย big boxย or club retail.ย 

  • Hands-on experience with Roundel, Walmart Connect,ย orย Amazon Ads.ย 

  • Familiarity with Luminate, Amazon Brand Analytics, orย Circanaย / Nielsen.ย 

Work Environment & Physical Requirementsย 

  • Hybrid: Remote on Monday & Friday, In-office Tues โ€“ Thursday at Duke Cannon HQ in Minneapolis, MN.ย ย 

  • Travel ofย approximately 15โ€“20% to retailer headquarters (Minneapolis, Bentonville, Seattle), store visits, and industry events.ย 

  • Occasional lifting (up to 25ย lbs) for in-store visits and display reviews.ย

SALARY AND BENEFITSย
