Shopify Store Owner information

What is a Shopify store owner?

A Shopify Store Owner is an individual or business that creates, manages, and operates an online store using the Shopify e-commerce platform. They are responsible for setting up the store, adding products, handling orders, managing payments, and marketing their products to customers. Shopify Store Owners can sell physical or digital goods and often use various apps and integrations to enhance their store’s functionality. Success as a Shopify Store Owner involves understanding e-commerce best practices, customer service, and digital marketing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Shopify store owner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Shopify Store Owner, you need a solid understanding of e-commerce fundamentals, digital marketing, and product management, often complemented by experience in online retail. Familiarity with the Shopify platform, third-party apps, analytics tools, and integrations such as payment gateways is crucial. Strong soft skills like problem-solving, adaptability, and customer service excellence help set you apart in a competitive market. These skills and qualities are vital to effectively manage operations, drive sales growth, and build a loyal customer base.

What are some common challenges Shopify store owners face when scaling their business, and how can they be addressed?

Shopify store owners often encounter challenges such as inventory management, maintaining website performance during high-traffic periods, and providing excellent customer service as their business grows. To address these, it's important to regularly review and optimize your supply chain, invest in reliable apps or integrations to automate processes, and build a support team to handle customer inquiries efficiently. Additionally, leveraging Shopify's analytics tools can help identify growth opportunities and areas needing improvement.

Roman Inc

Job description

Description:

Roman, Inc. is a 63-year-old family-owned producer and exclusive U.S. distributor of more than 10,000 gifts and decorative accessories — including the iconic Fontanini® nativity collection, one of the most beloved faith-based collectible lines in North America. Our portfolio spans Christmas, seasonal, inspirational, and every day giftware sold through specialty retailers and department stores worldwide.

We're in an exciting growth phase: building out a high-performance ecommerce function that spans our DTC Shopify store, Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, and an expanding social commerce presence. This role is a ground-floor opportunity to contribute meaningfully to that buildout — and to grow with it.

Requirements:

The Role

We're looking for an E-Commerce Coordinator with hands-on experience across at least one of the following: online marketplace operations (Amazon, Walmart), B2B portal management, or social commerce channels (TikTok Shop, Instagram/Facebook Shop). You don't need to be an expert in all of them — but you should be genuinely comfortable working inside these platforms, not just familiar with them conceptually.

This role sits within our ecommerce team and reports to the Director of E-Commerce. You'll own day-to-day execution across catalog management, order operations, and platform content — while also supporting new channel launches as we scale.\

This role is a full time, in office position.

What You'll Do

Marketplace & Channel Operations

• Manage product listings on Amazon Seller Central and Walmart Marketplace — including title optimization, bullet points, A+ content, images, and pricing

• Monitor and troubleshoot listing health, suppressed ASINs, Buy Box performance, and policy compliance flags

• Support EDI and portal-based order management for B2B retail partners (Faire & RangeMe.com)

• Maintain inventory and availability sync across platforms; surface discrepancies to the team proactively

DTC Store Operations (Shopify)

• Upload and maintain product listings including descriptions, images, pricing, tags, and SEO metadata

• Organize and optimize collections, categories, and merchandising on Roman.com

• Assist with promotional setup, seasonal content updates, and homepage/collection page changes

• Monitor site performance and flag technical issues; coordinate with developers or platform support as needed

Social Commerce

• Support the launch and ongoing management of TikTok Shop, Instagram Shopping, and Facebook Shop storefronts

• Maintain product catalog sync and handle compliance requirements specific to social commerce platforms

• Assist with content coordination for shoppable posts and campaign integrations

Order Management & Customer Experience

• Monitor and manage incoming orders across Roman.com and fulfillment platforms; resolve delays, returns, and replacements

• Serve as first-line contact for customer inquiries via email and chat — responding promptly and professionally on products, orders, shipping, and returns

• Escalate issues appropriately and maintain documentation on recurring fulfillment problems

Reporting & Marketing Support

• Pull and analyze sales and performance reports across platforms; identify trends, flag anomalies, and share insights with the team

• Assist with Google Ads campaign setup and management (search and shopping)

• Support email marketing execution within platforms such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or Constant Contact

• Assist with paid and organic content integrations across platforms during peak seasons (Q4 holiday is our Super Bowl)

What We're Looking For (Full time, in the Office Role)

Required

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in ecommerce — in a coordinator, specialist, or operations role (not just coursework or academic projects)

• Direct experience working inside at least one of: Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace Seller Center, a B2B EDI/portal system, or a social commerce platform (TikTok Shop, Meta Commerce Manager)

• Working knowledge of Shopify — product uploads, collections, metafields, discount/promotion setup

• Proficiency with product content tools: Canva, Photoshop, or similar for basic image editing and resizing

• Strong attention to detail — catalog work is unforgiving; accuracy matters

• Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

• Clear written communicator — for both external customer-facing responses and internal team updates

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Experience with feed management or catalog syndication tools (e.g., Feedonomics, ChannelAdvisor, Salsify, or similar)

• Familiarity with Google Ads — specifically Shopping campaigns and Performance Max

• Experience with Klaviyo or comparable email/SMS marketing platforms

• Exposure to SEO fundamentals as applied to product listings and PDPs

• Background in giftware, seasonal retail, collectibles, or CPG strongly preferred — understanding our customer matters

• Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field

Why Roman

• You'll work across more platforms and channel types than most ecommerce roles at companies this size — Amazon, Walmart, Shopify DTC, B2B portals, and social commerce all in one seat

• Real ownership and visibility from day one — this isn't a support role buried in a large team

• A category with genuine staying power: faith-based collectibles and giftware have loyal, passionate customer bases

• Q4 is big — and we invest in it. You'll gain hands-on experience managing holiday ecommerce at meaningful scale

• Competitive salary commensurate with actual experience; full benefits package
