Your Role at impact.com:

We are growing our Tracking team and hiring experienced Java engineers who enjoy delivering products that operate at meaningful scale. You will build and evolve the services, APIs, and data workflows behind products used by many of the world's best-known brands.

This is one flexible senior-level opportunity. We are looking for strong product-delivery engineers and will assess each candidate's technical depth, experience, and best placement on the team during the hiring process. Depending on your strengths, you may contribute through hands-on feature and service delivery, technical leadership, or broader architectural ownership.

Candidates who can participate in a hybrid work model with at least two in-office days per week are highly preferred.

What You'll Do:

  • Own features from concept to production.
  • Design, build, and evolve Java services, modules, and internal APIs that support high-volume tracking, data, and commerce workflows.
  • Make sound technical decisions across service boundaries, relational data, asynchronous processing, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Improve the deployment, observability, scalability, and maintainability of our applications and services.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues before they spoil your weekend.
  • Integrate with external APIs and build clear, reliable interfaces for internal consumers.
  • Share technical judgment with the team through design discussions, code review, mentoring, and practical engineering leadership.
  • Be part of a continuously improving, agile team.

What You'll Bring:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering production software, learning quickly, and working closely with Product to ship customer-focused features.
  • Professional Java and Spring Framework development experience, with the ability to design, implement, test, and operate backend services.
  • Comfortable in the Linux terminal, using command-line to troubleshoot systems.
  • Fluency with relational databases and experience modeling, querying, and evolving production data.
  • Experience building applications on public cloud platforms and working with cloud-native or serverless technologies.
  • Experience with asynchronous or event-driven systems, such as Kafka or comparable message buses.
  • Experience working with distributed systems, including the practical trade-offs around reliability, performance, and service integration.
  • Working familiarity with JavaScript and browser-to-backend web requests.
  • Clear communication and collaborative problem-solving skills, with a record of helping teams deliver high-quality software.

Nice To Have:

  • Production experience in e-commerce, including high-transaction or high-throughput purchasing, catalog, checkout, payments, or partner-commerce systems.
  • Production experience in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), AI-search, or search infrastructure, such as retrieval, indexing, ingestion, semantic or vector search, or high-throughput query systems.
  • JVM performance investigation and tuning, concurrency, request batching, or latency-sensitive distributed-service design.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its tool suite.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Affiliate & Partnerships Industry Fundamentals Certification by PXA.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $200,000 per year, plus an additional 5% variable annual bonus contingent on Company performance and eligible to receive a Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant. *This is the pay range the Company believes is equitable for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
