Job description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Manager to join our growing team.

As a Group Manager at JELD-WEN, you will be a key member of the Manufacturing team and will be responsible for managing and implementing all production operations, material handling, and facilities operations at the METRO Facility . You will manage production operations related to preparing, laminating, testing, and repackaging laminated vinyl extrusions as well as receiving, storing, counting, and delivery, as needed,  of all of our raw materials used in making Vinyl windows for our windows operations teams. This is an exceptional opportunity to be a key driver of JELD-WEN's Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), including, but not limited to, SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI's) activities and initiatives in direct support of JELD-WEN's Mission Statement. You will report directly to the METRO  Value Stream Manager. 

This is an onsite role and is based in our Spokane, WA METRO Facility located at 4000 E Main Avenue, Spokane WA

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily shop floor operations, ensuring execution aligns with established processes, procedures, and company standards.
  • Develop and execute production plans to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Act as a key liaison between leadership and hourly teams, ensuring clear, timely communication and alignment.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for Lead employees and their teams
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including delivering hands-on training and ensuring compliance with all EHS requirements.
  • Identify risks, drive corrective actions, and maintain accountability through safety reporting systems
  • Manage labor, materials, and resources to meet production needs, including capacity planning and workforce allocation.
  • Drive performance across PSQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with plant leadership to monitor performance, improve processes, and achieve operational goals
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained for reliable operation, including supporting preventative maintenance programs
  • Identify and implement process, equipment, and facility improvements aligned with continuous improvement objectives

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with one to three years' manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (window and door industry preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience developing people, driving accountability, and improving team performance.
  • Solid problem-solving and root cause analysis skills with the ability to drive sustainable improvements
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., PSQDCI, TPS, OTD) preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems and timekeeping platforms (e.g., UKG) is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing equipment and tools preferred.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in supporting training, coaching, and daily operations.

 

Schedule Availability 

  • A key factor for success in this role will be availability of work schedule. Group Manager will manage the day to day activities during the weekend shift (FRI/SAT/SUN/MON) or (THUR/FRI/SAT/SUN)) for ten hours per day, as well as at least one additional partial day availability for split shift training/process development and special projects.  The expectation would requiire manager availability of 40-50 hours per week regularly.

Expected pay for this role is between $69,500.00 to $115,800.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
