Job description

Shop Superintendent - Plumbing

Aurora, CO

$95,000-$115,000 + Annual Incentive Bonus Eligibility

Lead the Shop. Build What Matters. Develop Who's Next.

The best Shop Superintendents don't just oversee production. They build teams, develop leaders, and create the culture that drives quality, productivity, and execution.

At RK Industries, you'll own the plumbing shop floor, setting the standard for safety, craftsmanship, accountability, and performance. You'll lead the people, processes, and production activities that ensure every assembly, spool, and packaged shipment leaves the shop built right, staged right, and delivered on time.

You'll have the opportunity to influence execution strategy, workforce planning, prefabrication operations, productivity, safety, and quality while developing the Foremen, Leads, and craft professionals who will help drive the future of our business.

And you won't build alone. RK's integrated fabrication, manufacturing, construction, and building services capabilities provide resources, technology, and support that many contractors simply can't match.

This is an opportunity to leave a legacy, not just manage another shop.

What You'll Lead

  • Oversee all plumbing fabrication and prefabrication operations, maintaining a safe, organized, and highly productive shop environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement across production processes, quality standards, workflow efficiencies, and shop performance.
  • Read drawings like a story. Anticipate scope changes, identify potential conflicts, and ensure production stays ahead of project schedules.
  • Lead the planning, fabrication, bundling, staging, and shipment of plumbing materials, assemblies, and prefabricated components.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics with transportation partners to support field operations and project milestones.
  • Ensure labor hours, productivity metrics, and timecard allocations are accurate and aligned with project budgets.
  • Partner closely with VDC, detailing, and engineering teams to ensure work packages transition seamlessly from design into production.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations Leaders, Schedulers, and field teams to drive schedule adherence and project success.
  • Maintain high standards for quality control, ensuring all fabricated products meet RK and client expectations.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts, balancing manpower, production needs, shop capacity, and project demands.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development initiatives within the shop.
  • Mentor and develop Foremen, Leads, and craft professionals, helping build the next generation of shop leadership.
  • Champion RK's safety culture and hold teams accountable for maintaining a world-class safety record.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of plumbing fabrication, prefabrication, or shop operations experience, preferably in commercial and industrial construction environments.
  • Proven experience leading shop teams, production crews, and frontline leaders in a fast-paced manufacturing or fabrication setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, fabrication processes, and installation methods.
  • Strong understanding of labor planning, scheduling, productivity management, quality control, and operational execution.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, fabrication documents, specifications, and shop drawings with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience coordinating with VDC, detailing, engineering, and project management teams.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate teams, solve problems, and drive accountability.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success developing people, building teams, and creating a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with production tracking, labor reporting, and shop management tools.
