Job Title: Grinder

Job Description

This role supports the finishing department by grinding, deburring, and smoothing welds on a variety of fabricated products. The position focuses primarily on grinding work while also assisting with wrapping materials in the wood shop as needed. You will contribute directly to the quality and appearance of finished products used in parks, playgrounds, fitness areas, and public spaces across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Grind, deburr, and smooth welds on metal components to meet quality and finish standards.
  • Operate grinding tools and related equipment safely and efficiently for the majority of the shift.
  • Inspect workpieces to ensure smooth, consistent finishes and correct any imperfections.
  • Assist with wrapping and preparing materials in the wood shop when needed.
  • Support powder coating and painting preparation by ensuring surfaces are properly finished.
  • Handle materials safely, including moving and staging parts in the shop environment.
  • Read and interpret basic drawings and blueprints to understand finishing requirements.
  • Use shop tools such as drills and saws to complete finishing-related tasks as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling of tools and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment while working in an open shop environment.

  • Proven experience with grinding and deburring metal components.
  • Ability to safely operate grinding tools and related finishing equipment.
