Job description

BBB SD II is looking for a motivated and experienced Shop Helper to join the team! Hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

The Shop Helper provides essential support to the Service Department by assisting Technicians, Service Advisors, and the Parts Department with daily operations. This position helps maintain an efficient workflow by transporting vehicles, delivering parts, organizing the shop, and completing various tasks that keep the service department operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and willing to assist wherever needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist Technicians, Service Advisors, and Parts personnel with daily operational needs.
  • Move customer and dealership vehicles safely throughout the service department.
  • Deliver parts, tools, and supplies to technicians in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve parts from the Parts Department and verify accuracy before delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, service drive, and parking areas.
  • Prepare customer vehicles for pickup, including basic cleaning and staging as needed.
  • Assist with vehicle check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Organize keys, repair orders, and vehicle parking to support efficient workflow.
  • Perform dealership errands, including parts pickups and deliveries.
  • Stock shop supplies and assist with inventory organization.
  • Dispose of shop waste and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
  • Support the Service Department during peak business hours by responding to requests from technicians, advisors, and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support dealership operations.

This role serves as the "go-to" support position within the service department, helping Technicians, Parts, and Service Advisors maximize productivity while ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate automatic transmission vehicles; manual transmission experience is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous dealership or automotive service experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of automotive service operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
