Job description

The Role
As a Shop Assistant at AMS, you're the hands-on support. You'll provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks, while assisting project managers and the shop supervisor to keep daily operations running smoothly.
You'll assist with shop loading and jobsite preparation, load and unload delivery trucks, and operate equipment such as forklifts. The role also includes receiving, unpacking, and arranging new shipments from suppliers and vendors, arranging and labeling goods, and picking material from inventory to fulfill project orders. As an employee-owned company, the shop you support is one you share in, with Quality, Integrity, Reliability built into every task.
What You'll Own
  • Provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks.
  • Assist with shop loading and jobsite preparation.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks.
  • Clean and maintain equipment as directed.
  • Assist project managers and shop supervisor.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts.
  • Receive, unpack, and arrange new shipments from suppliers and vendors.
  • Arrange and label goods.
  • Receive and unload trucks, correctly identifying and storing materials in proper locations.
  • Pick material from inventory to fulfill orders for projects.
  • Clean and organize the shop for efficient workflow.
  • Drive company trucks to job sites and deliver material.
  • Assist in job site pick-ups and clean-ups.
  • Maintain a good driving record and obey traffic laws in company vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in inventory software, computer systems, and barcode scanners.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy items (typically up to 50 lbs), and stand for long periods.
  • High attention to detail for tracking, recording, and verifying data.
  • Experience with, or ability to learn, forklifts, pallet jacks, and shipping tools.
