Due to continued growth, we are looking to add aย Shop Assistant/Driverย to ourย Plantsville, CTย team. In this role, you will ensure materials are stocked and available for the shop while completing safe, timely deliveries of merchandise and goods to required locations. Day-to-day work includes operating company vehicles, properly loading and unloading cargo, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and scheduled maintenance. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring material is available for the shop and, when needed, other branch locations.
  • Deliver tools and materials to project and customer sites.
  • Prepare each job in accordance with the fabrication list or verbal/written instructions.
  • Operate shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Report problems and discrepancies to management.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
  • Assist the Shop Foreman as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good mathematical skills, with the ability to read a tape measure and add/subtract fractions.
  • Good communication, organizational, reading, and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Two years of experience in a shop setting a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds assisted (with another person or mechanical assistance).
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 6 feet.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Shop environment with exposure to outside elements during all seasons.

The wage for this role isย $18.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
