SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer role supports the design, analysis, integration, and production of mission-critical marine mechanical & electrical systems and equipment. This role develops 3D models and production drawings, performs structural/thermal/fluid analyses as required, and coordinates with electrical, controls, production, and shipyard teams to deliver compliant, install-ready solutions for commercial, offshore, and government/naval platforms. This position plays an important role in meeting our policy of supporting the continued success of our customers.
Responsibilities:Design & Modeling
- Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and installation arrangements for marine equipment, foundations, enclosures, machinery, and related components.
- Produce high-quality 2D production drawings, fabrication packages, and bills of materials (BOMs) with strong GD&T discipline.
- Create ship integration deliverables such as layout drawings, foundation/interface drawings, and installation details aligned to shipyard standards.
- Manage design data and revisions in PDM/PLM systems; execute ECR/ECO workflows and maintain configuration control.
Marine Integration & Production Support
- Coordinate with shipyard/outfitting teams to ensure designs are buildable, serviceable, and install-ready (clearances, lifting, access, maintainability).
- Support material selection and manufacturing methods; collaborate with procurement and suppliers to define technical requirements and resolve issues.
- Provide shopfloor and field support during fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning; troubleshoot mechanical integration issues.
Engineering Analysis (as required by program scope)
- Perform or oversee structural analyses (static, fatigue, modal/vibration) for foundations, brackets, equipment supports, and machinery components.
- Perform or oversee CFD/thermal/fluid analyses for cooling, ventilation, intake/discharge, and heat rejection challenges when applicable.
- Conduct piping network and/or pipe stress analysis for marine piping systems as required (supports, flexibility, vibration, thermal growth).
Quality, Testing, and Compliance
- Develop and support test plans (FAT/SAT), inspection criteria, and technical documentation packages.
- Work with class societies and customers to support approvals, reviews, and compliance documentation (as applicable).
- Participate in root-cause investigations and corrective actions (NCR/MRB), driving practical solutions that protect schedule and quality.
