Job description

Overview

The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day. These batteries can be found in your car, in your boat or RV, or, in your lawn and garden equipment. Stryten proudly supports the local community by regularly participating in Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, and providing more than 100 volunteers for the Smoky Hill River Festival.

The primary responsibility of this job is to unload, verify, and receive inbound shipments, to load and ship out plant scrap, returnable racks/crates and pallets for the receiving department.

Starting pay rate = $21.28

Stryten Energy is hiring for the Salina team! New employee orientations on a weekly basis.  Orders are up and we need additional team members to meet our customer demands!

Our plant is located in Salina, KS but we have employees that live in our neighboring towns such as Concordia, Ellsworth, Herrington and McPherson.

Shifts:

  • C Shift: Thurs-Sat, every other Wed; 5:25 am to 6:00 pm

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Receive directions from supervisor and lead man.
  • Unload shipments arriving at plant, check materials versus paperwork.
  • Store materials and product in assigned area.
  • Move materials from or into specified area.
  • Operate lift truck in safe manner. Hook up charges to lift truck.
  • Prepare load sheet, load product and material for shipment.
  • Inspect, band, and load hazardous waste on trailers for shipment to recycling center.
  • Assist coordinator with paperwork and other coordinator duties.
  • Comply with health and safety policies and regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
  • Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
  • Pallet Repair
  • Hazardous waste training shall be provided to the employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position and a review of this training provided every 12 months thereafter. The employee will complete a program of classroom instruction. The employee shall be supervised until training is completed. The training shall consist of a review of proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, how to review and prepare a hazardous waste manifest, and proper labeling requirements.
  • Perform other work as assigned by Management including 5S cleaning
Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
  • Frequently lifting from grams up to 50 pounds

Equipment Used:

  • Lift truck, small hand tools, air compressor, nail gun, bander, clipboard, pen/pencil, RF, and 2-way radio

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Operation of Powered Industrial Equipment such as forklift.

Computer usage.

  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple English.
