Job description

Position: Shipping/Receiving Clerk
Location: Palmetto, GA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: Up to $19/hr (depending on experience)

Job Summary

We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for a client's distribution center in Palmetto, GA. This role is responsible for all outbound shipping documentation, carrier coordination, and yard management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced DC environment.

Responsibilities

  • Check in and check out carrier drivers; maintain logs of pickup appointments including arrival times, loading times, departure times, and load tracking information

  • Maintain yard management data for shipping equipment; confirm adequate equipment is on site and properly positioned

  • Utilize Access database to manage driver and trailer information

  • Ensure all outbound paperwork is complete and accurate

  • Apply seals to outbound trailers and maintain control of the sealing process

  • Maintain orderly files and shipping records for all outbound shipments; research and pull shipping documentation as requested

  • Use PKMS Warehouse Management System to close loads and resolve update issues

  • Communicate via Microsoft Outlook with management, customers' traffic departments, and carriers

  • Coordinate with the shipping dock management team and yard switcher; visit the dock as needed to resolve issues or check on shipments

  • Ensure adequate supplies are on hand for daily operations

Must Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Outlook

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work with detailed information and maintain accurate documentation

Preferred Skills

  • 1+ years of shipping experience

  • Distribution center background
