Job description

Primary Function:

Coordinate and complete all transactions required for the receiving and shipment of scrap, alloy and supplies.

Tools and Equipment

Scales, Lift Truck, computer terminals and printers.

CB's and 2-way radios

Materials:

Purchased and revert scrap material, alloys, various melting supplies.

Working Procedure:

l. Directs loading, unloading and weighing of all incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.

  • Authority to allow access onto the property without the role of a guard Asset Protection.

2. Completes all required shipping and receiving transactions including entry of required data to computer system and/or forms, distributing information and maintaining records as required.

3. Verifies conformance of incoming material to purchasing specification. Reports any nonconformance in accordance with SOP's and enters CARs as required.

  • Checks for radiation entering the plant. Performs daily check to ensure radiation system is working properly.

4. Schedules carriers, completes and reports all transactions required for the conversion of scrap material.

  • Creates BOL's for shipments to customers and other Carpenter Facilities.

5. Maintains scheduled receipts log. Provides notification of material not received as scheduled and information on rescheduling as required.

  • Notifies Purchasing and Raw Material Specialists in case of scheduling problems for heats being created.

6. Responsible for deployment of mobile equipment to support efficient process flow.

7. Schedules mobile equipment repairs and periodic maintenance. Maintains daily mobile equipment inspection logs.

8. Serves as scrap yard contact for internal and external customers and suppliers.

  • Acting liaison in the absence of supervision between all departments.

9. Orders supplies for Raw Materials Services.

10. Conducts physical scrap and alloy inventories and audits as required.

11. Maintains effective working relationships with all customers, suppliers and co-workers.

  • Provides strong leadership skills as a team player to communicate effectively among various departments.

12. Assists in the completion of other department tasks, as required, to support operations.

  • The weighmaster is the go-to position when the Supervisor is not there. This position will receive phone calls or task that will need to get to the appropriate jobs. He will ask them to complete task or gather info.

13. Understands ad adheres to all company and department policies and procedures.

14. Participates in Company Wide Continuous Improvements.

15. Maintains a clean and orderly workspace.

16. Observes safety rules and regulations.

17. Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.

  • Aids new staff in the training of processes and procedures of Raw Material Services.
  • Check for CTC requirements on all BOL's for Purchasing and Audits on all inbound material.
  • Confirm any material with deviations meets approval through Lotus Notes and notify the proper personnel if does not before allowing entry into the facility.
  • Prepare and bar code samples for the Lab.
