Description:

Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: Thomson, GA  


Position Description:

The Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating production support activities, inventory management, shipping and receiving, production documentation, labeling, and operational support functions within the facility. This role works closely with the Plant Manager to ensure efficient workflow, inventory accuracy, traceability, and compliance with company quality and safety standards. The Production Coordinator serves as a key operational resource by supporting daily production activities, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating communication between warehouse, production, and administrative functions. This position does not directly supervise production employees but plays a critical role in the overall success of plant operations.


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate daily warehouse and production support activities 
  • Manage inventory counts, reconciliations, and inventory accuracy 
  • Perform daily cycle counts and verify lot tracking records 
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving activities 
  • Ensure accuracy of inbound and outbound loads and associated documentation 
  • Complete inbound ingredient verification and documentation 
  • Prepare and maintain production records, labels, and shipping documents 
  • Coordinate product staging and order preparation activities 
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts and warehouse equipment as needed 
  • Maintain warehouse organization and inventory rotation (FIFO) 
  • Verify quality standards on incoming ingredients and outgoing products 
  • Perform routine quality assurance checks and facility inspections 
  • Support traceability, lot control, and product verification processes 
  • Assist with safety initiatives, training documentation, and compliance activities 
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Plant Manager 
  • Maintain production, inventory, and compliance records 
  • Assist with equipment upkeep and general facility maintenance as needed 
  • Maintain compliance with company quality, safety, food safety, and housekeeping standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to lift 65+ pounds as necessary
  • Forklift operation on a routine basis
  • Able to climb steps, ladders at varying heights in and on the mill structure.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, push, pull, and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of warehousing, shipping/receiving, inventory control, and manufacturing operations; animal feed or premix experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational, paperwork, labeling, and inventory management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn company systems, production documentation, and traceability processes
  • Forklift experience or ability to become certified, along with the ability to safely operate warehouse and production equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate proficiently in English while working effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and follow company quality, safety, and operational procedures consistently
  • Mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience are strongly preferred
