The role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to support material flow and logistics operations at our Detroit Kettering facility on our 2nd shift. This role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining accurate inventory and documentation, and ensuring materials move efficiently through the facility to support production and customer delivery requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational and computer skills, experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment, and the ability to manage multiple logistics activities in a fast-paced automotive production setting.

This position is based on-site at our Detroit Kettering facility and reports to the Warehouse Manager as part of the Materials Management team.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate inbound material receipts including processing supplier Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs), verifying shipment documentation, and ensuring materials are received within required timeframes.
    • Review supplier shipping documentation against received materials and report discrepancies or damaged freight to the appropriate Materials Planner.
    • Prepare outbound shipping documentation including bills of lading and packing slips to ensure accurate and timely customer shipments.
    • Coordinate daily customer shipments and provide carriers with the appropriate documentation, including packaging and dunnage information.
    • Enter packing slip and shipment data into company systems and maintain accurate records for receiving, shipping, and inventory tracking.
    • Prepare and process parcel shipments (FedEx, UPS) and manage miscellaneous reports required for materials and logistics operations.
    • Support plant inventory activities, monitor material levels, and assist with resolving material flow or logistics issues affecting production.

Who you are

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience in shipping, receiving, materials coordination, or logistics in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word and experience with inventory or ERP systems.
    • Experience working with shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and ASNs.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage detailed documentation.
    • Forklift (Hi-Lo) certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
    • Ability to handle confidential information and communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Health, Safety, Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment with frequent walking, standing, and interaction with shipping and receiving operations.
    • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials as needed to support logistics activities.
    • Must comply with all company safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements.
    • Minimal travel required.
