Frog Holler Produce seeks an experienced 3rd Shift Foodservice Shipping Manager to join our thriving team. Frog Holler delivers the freshest produce and specialty foods to Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Toledo, and metro Detroit’s best restaurants, hotels, and sporting arenas! The Night Shipping Manager will lead a team of selectors to ensure the safe and efficient picking and selecting of customers' orders and manage the loading process of palletized orders on our delivery trucks.

The Night Shipping Manager must have proven experience building and leading a high-performing team, worked in a similar position and industry, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate must be able to quickly create solutions, drive continuous improvement, and manage a diverse team with an unwavering level of accountability. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all processes and procedures of the shipping department relating to pick-to-pallet order selection, staging pallets, and loading on trucks.
  • Lead and manage team of 14+ selectors, 2 Loader/checkers, and supervisors to ensure 300+ nightly orders are selected accurately, efficiently, and loaded on trucks.
  • Perform management functions of weekly schedules, evaluating payroll and staff hours, Selector Incentive Pay calculations for efficiency (cases per hour) and accuracy (cases per error), and other coaching/disciplinary measures.
  • Coach and train to Selector Performance standards: Cases per Hour and MisPick & Not On Truck error metrics. Coach low performers through nightly Observations.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings recapping wins and losses from the previous day, review Selector Metrics (cases per hour & cases per error), safety tips, & important information about the current night.
  • Oversee the Routing and load planning process for 30+ routes loading between 8pm and 5am. Organize work assignments for pick sheets, labels, late orders, and short product.
  • Achieve continuous improvement in staff safety, productivity and accuracy by identifying bottlenecks, process improvement, and ongoing training.
  • Oversee onboarding and training of new staff to ensure “Frog Way” is followed, safe use of equipment, and promote culture of positivity, teamwork and accountability.
  • Foster a team culture where everyone is focused on our customers and is willing to step up and support other members of the team as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and be an advocate on safety in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 Years successful management experience in a warehouse setting, preferably with pick-to-pallet order fulfillment.
  • Experience in the Food Service Industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience using ERP and WMS, Routing Software, or WM.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours depending on workload.
  • Strong leader ready to train, coach and mentor employees.
  • Ability to make decisions, problem-solve, prioritize and direct department activities.
  • Must have computer skills including MS Word, Excel and ability to learn new systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a refrigerated facility for extended times.
  • Ability to bend and lift with up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to move on and off equipment.
