Reports to:Shipping Manager
SUMMARY
You will be responsible for directly supervising forklift operators and unitizers, handling all aspects of overseeing shipping duties. A large part of the day is spent on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations: Directs daily shipping schedules, workflows, and assignments to meet company targets.

Supervision: Supervises, trains, and coaches shipping personnel, including conflict resolution and resolving performance issues. Ensures adherence to safety protocols. Maintains accurate records of employee work hours, absences, and vacation time

Inventory Control: Performs cycle counts, maintains accurate inventories, reconciles shipping records, and maintains organized storage areas.

Order accuracy and quality: Inspects finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications before shipment.

Process Improvement: Analyzes existing procedures to increase efficiency, reduce shipping costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

Communication: Effective communication and coordination with production, maintenance, vendors, employees, and between shifts. Conduct weekly meetings with departmental personnel.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED

Prior forklift operator experience

Prior shipping department experience

Minimum one year prior supervisory experience

Knowledge of warehouse software applications

Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with working knowledge of MS Office applications

Candidates arePREFERREDwho offer the following:

College and/or related technical experience

Prior work experience in the corrugated industry

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to read, interpret and write business correspondence, manuals and reports. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Able to demonstrate high emotional control under adverse conditions.
  • Able to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
