Job description

Overview

The Shipping/Receiving Lead is responsible for receiving, storing, pulling and shipping all items coming in and going out of the warehouse by any mode (LTL/TL/IML/Parcel) as well as general daily lead of the Shipping/Receiving clerks to ensure the highest level of productivity. Leads by example, monitor and promote a safe, clean organized work environment at all times. Communicate and work with other departments as necessary to ensure we are meeting all expectations of outbound/inbound shipments.

Responsibilities
  • Pulls stock and assembles merchandise and boxes new equipment for shipment from work orders and marks with product identification and consignee's address.
  • Follows all written departmental and company processes and safety procedures
  • Assures accuracy of shipment quantity and description to order specifications.
  • Prepares record of merchandise shipped including manifests, packing slips, bills of lading, etc.
  • Stores merchandise, supplies, equipment in orderly manner using appropriate handling methods for protection and disbursements and stock locations.
  • Receives incoming shipments of merchandise, verifies kind and quantity against purchase orders, records receiving activity pertinent to purchase orders within JDE and reports information for any loss or damage claims.
  • Operates power and manual material handling equipment.
  • Ensure daily forklift reports are turned in and submit forklift maintenance reports timely.
  • Loads and unloads trucks.
  • Knowledgeable with operating U.P.S/ FEDEX equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment daily.
  • Leads Lean activities and pro-actively plans and facilitates new lean activities and pro-actively plans and facilitates new lean activities including 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Handles miscellaneous related duties and assignments as required.
  • Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work.
  • Orders supplies for the department.
  • Assists in disciplinary actions and lead of employees under your direction (if needed).
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements to the Distribution Manager.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Includes any required computer skills, regulatory knowledge, certifications, licenses, languages, etc.)

  • Must pass Rug Doctor's written forklift examination prior to hire and have the ability to become forklift certified under the Company Forklift Certification Policy.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Good mathematical aptitude necessary.
  • Must be cooperative and self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and the ability to be flexible and remain productive while working under various conditions.
  • Loading dock experience helpful.
  • Must be able to pass reference verification, background search, post offer employment physical and substance abuse screen.
  • Overtime as required and authorized.
