Job description

Full-Time Shifts Available: Monday-Friday (4p-12a), Monday - Thursday (6a-4p)
The Shipping Clerk will sort and package orders and process shipments in an accurate manner; will coordinate the shipment of truck shipments with customers or logistics companies; will process international and special requirement shipments using the internet.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilizes the established quality assurance principles to ensure the quality and accuracy of each order
  • Packages label orders per customer's specifications
  • Arranges/processes the "exception" shipments (that cannot be processed through the Shiprite system) using the "carrier websites" on the internet
  • Processes shipments on the Shiprite system when needed
  • Lifts up to 45-pound boxes of labels repetitively throughout the day and push/pulls 75-150-pound carts on wheels or pallets (using a pallet jack).
  • Send incomplete orders back to press when there is insufficient quantity of labels for the order.
  • Modifies orders that need to have changes or corrections made in the OM retrieve system.
  • Contacts the customer directly when there are questions regarding the shipping requirements of an order or when the customer wants to make the freight/shipping arrangements.
  • Scans the barcodes of orders coming into the department
  • Moving packed boxes onto conveyor line and/or loading directly onto pallets throughout the day. Using manual pallet jacks to move weight up to 2,000 pounds throughout the day
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. May include specialized classes beyond high school
  • Has proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions. Typically possesses 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Performs single function tasks that tend to be of moderate size and scope
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to read, interpret and create simple correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer operations knowledge
  • This position requires contact with shipping dept. team, team members in other departments, customers, and management staff

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. 21% to 50% of work time.
  • Incumbent constantly required to walk, stand, grasp, reach, push/pull, bend, stoop, twisting, and use of manual dexterity for prolonged periods of time.
  • Incumbent regularly required to hear, speak, and use color vision.
  • Incumbent regularly required to carry and lift up to 50 lbs.
