Job Description Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for the execution and coordination of operational processes in the shipping area across all three shifts. This role ensures that the procedures and work instructions established by the Material Handling Process are followed effectively. The Team Leader focuses on ensuring the efficient picking, storage, and shipment of finished goods, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity during their shift.
The Team Leader will collaborate closely with the scheduling team, transportation departments to ensure that shipments are planned and executed according to requirements. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the return of empty containers from customers and facilitating smooth communication between teams to ensure the efficient flow of information and procedures related to shipping operations
Job Description:
Oversee the execution of the shipping process, ensuring the accurate picking of finished goods and storage in designated locations for shipment.
• Coordinate with the scheduling team to ensure shipments are planned and executed efficiently, based on customer and transportation department requirements.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards during all material handling and shipping processes, reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents to the Supervisor.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shipping accuracy, on-time delivery, and productivity, and take corrective actions as needed to meet targets.
• Facilitate the return of empty containers from customers, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the shipping processes, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks or issues in the shipping process that may disrupt smooth operations.
• Generate regular performance reports on the shipping processes, highlighting any issues or areas for improvement.
• Support the development and refinement of work instructions and procedures for material handling and shipping tasks.
• Collaborate with the TRMF Material Handling Process Supervisor and Site Lead to ensure alignment on operational objectives and to address any challenges related to the shipping process.
• Assist in the development of space analysis and shipping load calculations to optimize storage and shipping operations.
Required Skills and Education
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operational role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
• Strong organizational and planning skills to ensure the efficient execution of shipping processes across shifts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and information.
• Experience with inventory management systems, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.
• Ability to work effectively across all three shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient shipping operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in the shipping processes.
Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Equivalent
Candidate will also be required to pass screening, drug test, background and physical.
