Designer A - Structure

General Function
The Designer A - Structure is responsible for creating layouts, engineered drawings, charts, diagrams, and other design materials using advanced drafting techniques. The role requires interpreting technical specifications and transforming them into detailed designs ranging from routine to complex.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed structural component designs.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to maintain drawing accuracy and consistency.
  • Review and verify drawings, including occasional visits to production areas.
  • Ensure adherence to CAD standards and Bollinger design protocols.
  • Apply common materials and standardized practices wherever feasible.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project specifications.
  • Follow Bollinger's internal control procedures (e.g., DDNs, ECNs, CCRs).
  • Coordinate and verify vendor-supplied technical data for integration.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Incorporate input from clients, regulatory authorities, and other entities into project designs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Solid grasp of design principles and CAD drafting techniques.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing methods.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
  • Proficient in design software and drafting tools.
  • Required: Proficiency with ShipConstructor software.

Experience & Training Requirements
  • Completion of 2 years of college-level coursework (equivalent to an AA degree) in Industrial Technology or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent experience/training will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant design experience.
