As a Naval Architect, you'll play a critical role in transforming customer requirements into efficient, buildable vessel designs while ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop vessel design packages including:
  • General arrangements
  • Structural models
  • Equipment foundations
  • Weight estimates
  • Stability analyses
  • Systems layouts
• Prepare detailed production drawings for fabrication
• Support engineering during vessel construction
• Resolve shop-floor design challenges
• Perform hydrostatics, hydrodynamic, and stability calculations
• Support inclining experiments and sea trials
• Review vendor equipment packages and system integration
• Participate in design reviews and production readiness meetings
• Assist with proposals, estimating, and technical evaluations
• Maintain engineering documentation and configuration control
• Ensure compliance with:
  • ABS
  • USCG
  • NAVSEA
  • SOLAS
  • Customer specifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture
• 3+ years of shipyard or marine design experience
• Experience designing steel and/or aluminum vessels
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Rhino, ShipConstructor, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
• Working knowledge of:
  • ABS regulations
  • USCG requirements
  • SOLAS standards
• Experience with:
  • Hydrostatics
  • Weight control
  • Stability analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

You'll stand out if you have experience with:

• Master's Degree in Naval Architecture
• Commercial vessel design
• Government or military vessel programs
• Barges
• Logistics support craft
• Modular ship construction
• Digital shipbuilding workflows
• Shipyard production engineering
• Field engineering during vessel construction and launch

This position combines office-based engineering with regular interaction on the production floor.

You'll have the opportunity to see your designs take shape firsthand while collaborating with skilled shipbuilders throughout the construction process.

Occasional shipyard activities include:

• Accessing production areas
• Climbing ladders
• Visiting vessels under construction
• Supporting engineering during fabrication and launch
