Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Machine Operator to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.
Shift: Standard shift is 6:00am - 2:45pm, Monday through Friday.
Hours fluctuate to ten- and twelve-hour days if needed during peak season including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary due to customer demand. Seasons vary between January through end of May.

As a member of our production team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting the creation and distribution of diploma frames to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. While you'll lean heavily on your technical abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality and safety. We live and work in a team environment and rely.

What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 30 Days:
• Read detailed work orders to determine setup specifications and efficiently set up your assigned machine.
• Learn to operate a variety of machines (Cutting machinery, fastening equipment, measuring tools, stamping machines) efficiently and safely to accurately produce world class diploma frames.
First 60 days:
• Ability to initiate trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setup without supervision.
First 90 Days:
• Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
What You'll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Assisting in the production and distribution of product produced.
• Perform all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
• Record any quality or scrap issues.
• Notify supervisor or manager of any issues that arise during the shift.
• Notify management of any safety concerns or quality issues.
• Team player and do what it takes attitude when other duties are assigned based on business demand.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous success in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success in going above and beyond to help the team achieve a goal.
• Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on time record.
Physical Activities:
Daily activity includes but is not limited to:
• Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
• Reading, communication, simple math.
• Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
• Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
