Sheetfed First Press Operator

Location: Burlington, WI

Pay: Starting at $25.00 / hour or more, based on relevant experience and skills

Job Type: Full-Time

Paid Relocation: May be available for highly qualified candidates relocating from more than 100 miles away.

Shift Options:

  • Day Shift | 7:00 am – 7:00 pm – typically 3 or 4 days, Monday–Friday
  • Night Shift | 7:00 pm – 7:00 am – typically Monday–Thursday
  • Schedules may flex based on production needs.

Experience Required: Previous sheetfed offset press operating experience is required. Experience with KBA or Heidelberg equipment is highly preferred; operators with experience on other sheetfed press platforms are encouraged to apply.

Quad is seeking experienced Sheetfed First Press Operators to join our Burlington manufacturing team.

Our Burlington facility produces books, brochures, catalogs, calendars, direct mail, and specialty print projects using advanced 10-color sheetfed printing, UV inks, specialty finishes, die cutting, embossing, folding, and gluing capabilities.

As a First Press Operator, you'll take ownership of press setup, print quality, equipment performance, and crew support while producing high-quality work for our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate multi-color sheetfed offset presses.
  • Review job tickets, materials, plates, inks, and production requirements.
  • Monitor and adjust color, registration, image placement, and print quality.
  • Troubleshoot press issues and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Complete production and quality documentation.
  • Identify and isolate non-conforming materials.
  • Train and support Press Operators and Press Assistants as needed.
  • Follow all safety, quality, food safety, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous sheetfed offset press operating experience is required.
  • Experience with KBA 864 UV, Heidelberg 640, 1040, 1240, or other sheetfed press platforms is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of sheetfed offset printing and print quality standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform routine press maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ability to read job tickets, specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used in print production; a color vision assessment may be required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Leadership, mentoring, or training experience is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
