JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Job Title:                             Maintenance Tech II

 

Report to:                           General Manager

 

Responsible for (staff): None

 

Location:                             Mooresville, North Carolina

 

Work Times:                      7am to 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday).   A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods.                

 

Salary:                                  Full time, non-exempt

 

Summary and Purpose

SHD Composite Materials Inc was incorporated in August 2018, to service the expanding American and Canadian composite industries.  The North American HQ is in Mooresville, North Carolina and became a fully operational manufacturing facility in 2019 and the Tulsa site became operational in 2023.

SHD Composite Materials Inc are manufacturers of advanced composite pre-impregnated (prepreg) materials.  With a growing global presence, we can service the American prepreg market with high quality prepreg at fast turnaround times together with world class technical support.

Our core strength is the ability to supply high or low volume, with a wide range of tooling and component products throughout America, and around the world.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that SHD industrial machines and equipment run smoothly and reliably.

Person Specification

In this role, you will be carrying out breakdown, planned and preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Working in accordance with the company Quality and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • Responsible for the safe installation and upkeep of all main production and auxiliary equipment.
  • Deliver fast, effective electrical/mechanical fault finding by investigating the root cause and identify and implement preventative solutions making sure that the Production Manager is informed if a shutdown is required and that all plant and equipment is safe prior to handing back to production team.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure the spares inventory is correctly identified and located in the correct location.
  • Practise continuous improvement, innovation and pro-activeness for improved ways of working offering possible solutions to problems encountered wherever possible.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.

Work Environment/Essential Physical Demands 

  • Ability to perform physical work for extended periods of time.
  • Possible weekend work and overtime required.
  • Ability to frequently bend, lift and reach.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift items up to 55 lbs.
  • Must have good vision and hearing.
  • Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing environment on concrete floors.
  • Ability to frequently push and pull items up to 105 lbs using lifting equipment.
  • Ability to safely, effectively and reliability receive and give urgent and other essential communications in a factory environment.
  • Ability to detect abnormalities in the process and receive safety signals using visual, tactile, or auditory senses.

 

Skills and Ability

 

  • Ensures the Maintenance Department supports the needs of production by keeping all production and facility equipment in proper working condition.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluation on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment and make repairs when needed.
  • Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills (Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, Inverter, and Process)
  • Ability to read and comprehend procedures, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Experience with performing PMs and repairs.
  • Adherence to safety procedures
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
  • Self-managing/ self-starter and ability to work within a team.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Experience in the installation of new lines.
  • Welding experience (Preferred).

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required; Two-year technical degree or currently enrolled in a two-year technical degree program preferred. Experience in lieu of degree always accepted.
  • Line controls experience (PLCs, servomotors, VFDs, panels, etc.)
  • 2+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Possess basic electrical skills including motor control, electrical distribution, and machinery installation along with mechanical skills such as repairing and maintaining manufacturing and equipment.
  • Ability to write/document procedures, reports, and correspondences.
