VP Of Hard Surface Products, Residential

Reporting to the SVP of Residential Product and Innovation, the VP of Residential Hard Surface Product Leadership (people leader) will be responsible for leading Category Management, Research and Development and Marketing Operations for all Hard Surface categories such as Laminate, Hardwood, Tile, Stone, Resilient, and Sundries. This position will work from our corporate offices in Dalton, GA.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, development, and go-to-market execution of each hard surface category in a manner that allows all categories the potential to provide the anticipated return on investment.
  • Responsible for leading the effectiveness of each category within hard surfaces through all selling channels; retail, builder, commercial, home centers, inside sales, and specialty markets
  • Maintain a customer-focused environment within the category and product development areas of hard surfaces via consistent customer input, travel and market knowledge. Travel frequently to varying customer types is necessary.
  • Actively participate in the annual and quarterly planning, and provide the leadership for each category so that financial plans for each category are met. Fiscal skills are a requirement at a level that is acceptable to hard surface management and Shaw's senior management. Thorough understanding of the "blue book" and "yellow book" and the ability to react to key components are required.
  • Drive consistency and cohesiveness among the five hard surface categories is a key responsibility as we strive for transactional excellence for our customers.
  • Develop the best products, programs and systems to allow for optimum effectiveness our all selling groups within each channel. The majority of the focus here will be on the retail and builder selling teams. Key relationships with DVPs, RMs and TMs is a requirement
  • Present consistently to Shaw's senior management specifically relating to actions and steps necessary to hit business plans and improve the profitability of our hard surface area.
  • Sample effectiveness via management of costs, multi-million dollar inventories and obsolescence is a requirement.
  • Working closely with our transactional team to ensure that pricing is effectively managed within each category and a competitive model without hassle for our customers.
  • Challenge and develop each manager within the sphere of influence, and grow them through accountability, creativity and business progress.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in business and 5 years of product portfolio management experience, or other equivalent experience.
  • Unlimited travel throughout North America often including weekends.
  • Ability to carry samples and set up merchandising systems.
  • Working hours beyond the "normal" work week is often.
  • Confidently present one-on-one and to large groups.

Preferred skills and experiences:

  • Sales, marketing and management experience in multiple hard surface flooring categories.
  • Expertise and training with the product lifecycle management (PLM) discipline and product portfolio management.
  • Prior P&L responsibility for multi-million dollar business segments.
