Position: M365/SharePoint Administrator L3

Location: Jersey City NJ

Job responsibilities

  • Working experience in On-premises Exchange 2019 / SE and M365 workloads (EXO, SPO, Teams & one Drive).
  • Working experience in Exchange 2019 HA / Database Availability Group
  • Working experience in Hybrid Mail flow, Edge Servers, Security and exchange patching
  • Knowledge of Client connectivity
  • Proficiency in scripting / PowerShell.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.

  • 10+ years’ experience in Exchange 2019 / 2016 – On-premises and M365 Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Any Certification on M365 / Exchange / SharePoint will be an added advantage.

Experience & Technical Requirements

Core Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of hands‑on experience administering Microsoft SharePoint Server (on‑premise) environments, with strong focus on SharePoint Server 2019.
  • Proven experience supporting large, enterprise‑scale SharePoint farms (single/multi‑farm, multi‑tier architecture).
  • Experience operating SharePoint in production environments with strict availability, security, and change‑management controls.

SharePoint Administration & Operations

  • Strong hands‑on expertise in:
    • SharePoint farm administration, including Central Administration and service applications
    • Site collections, sites, lists, libraries, and templates
    • Permissions management (AD groups, SharePoint groups, inheritance, least‑privilege models)
    • User Profile Service (UPS) configuration, synchronization, and troubleshooting
    • Managed Metadata Service, Search Service, Secure Store, State Service, and other core service applications
  • Experience handling user access issues, permission corruption, profile resets, and access‑denied scenarios.

Patching, Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • SharePoint Server 2019 patching (Cumulative Updates / Security Updates)
    • Pre‑patch validation, patch sequencing, and post‑patch health checks
    • Coordinating patching with SQL Server and Windows Server updates
    • Troubleshooting post‑patch issues (search failures, timer jobs, service outages).

Automation & PowerShell

  • Strong hands‑on experience using SharePoint Management Shell / PowerShell, including:
    • Farm health checks
    • Bulk site and permission operations
    • Service application administration
    • Scripted backup, restore, and cleanup tasks
  • Ability to write, modify, and maintain custom PowerShell scripts for operational automation.

Backup, Restore & DR

  • Proven experience with:
    • Farm‑level, web application, and site collection backups and restores
    • SQL‑level and SharePoint native backup/restore strategies
    • Supporting DR testing and recovery activities
    • Troubleshooting restore failures and content database issues.

IIS, Windows & SQL Server

  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • IIS administration for SharePoint (application pools, bindings, certificates, authentication settings)
    • Windows Server administration related to SharePoint farms
    • SQL Server used by SharePoint:
      • Content databases, service application databases
      • Basic performance troubleshooting (locks, growth, capacity planning)
      • Coordinating with DBAs on maintenance and failovers
  • Ability to analyze ULS logs, IIS logs, Event Viewer, and SQL errors for root cause analysis.

 

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Experience supporting SharePoint incidents and outages, including:
    • Performance degradation
    • Search and crawl failures
    • Authentication and access issues
    • Timer job and service failures
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (APM, synthetic monitoring, log aggregation such as Splunk is a plus).

Security & Compliance

  • Experience implementing and supporting:
    • SharePoint security baselines and hardening standards
    • Permission reviews, audits, and remediation
    • Handling audit or compliance‑driven requests related to SharePoint data access
  • Understanding of enterprise change control and incident management processes.

Nice to Have (Optional / Preferred)

  • Experience with SharePoint Server Subscription Edition or upgrade planning
  • Exposure to SharePoint Online / Hybrid environments
