Purpose of Position
The Senior Application Platform Engineer resolves complex technical issues in a fast-paced, customer-critical environment, managing escalations and collaborating with technical teams to restore service and prevent recurrence. The role drives improvements in support processes, standards, and strategy, and supports project work under direction of the Lead and Team Manager. Primary ownership is Microsoft 365 collaboration platform engineering with a focus on SharePoint Online development and platform management: site provisioning and lifecycle, information architecture, enhancements, and business solutions using Power Apps/Power Automate. The role assists in SharePoint governance (permissions/least privilege, access reviews, external sharing controls, SharePoint Advanced Management, cleanup and sprawl reduction, and oversharing prevention). The engineer also supports Microsoft 365 security and compliance (Purview, Entra ID, Conditional Access, auditing, data protection, and incident response) and participates in investigation, design, and planning of new platform capabilities. Provides 24/7/365 on-call rotational support.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Microsoft 365 collaboration and security platforms, with primary ownership of SharePoint Online development and administration.
• Design, build, and enhance SharePoint sites/solutions (information architecture, pages/web parts, navigation) and deliver scalable standards and documentation.
• Experience with advanced SharePoint site development using SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and tools such as Plumsail and JavaScript.
• Develop automation and admin tooling (Microsoft Graph; PowerShell/PnP as needed) for provisioning, reporting, remediation, and configuration enforcement.
• Gather business requirements and collaborate with site owners.
• Build and support Power Platform solutions integrated with SharePoint (Power Apps/Power Automate) following reliability and supportability standards.
• Lead SharePoint governance and lifecycle management (inventories, ownership validation, retention/archival alignment, cleanup, and oversharing prevention).
• Administer Microsoft 365 security and compliance (Purview, Entra ID, Conditional Access, audit/logging) and support incident response, evidence gathering, and remediation.
• General M365 administration and support
• Provide mentoring, runbooks/standards, escalation support, and 24/7/365 on-call coverage; partner cross-functionally to deliver platform improvements.
