Customizing SharePoint can sometimes lead to compatibility issues across different browsers or updates, as well as performance bottlenecks if best practices are not followed. To address these challenges, developers should leverage the SharePoint Framework (SPFx), adhere to established design guidelines, and maintain thorough documentation. Regular collaboration with back-end developers and SharePoint administrators also helps ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with organizational requirements.
