Position Summary

As a Bartender at Nick's Fish House, you are responsible for crafting high-quality beverages while providing exceptional service in a fun, upbeat, and fast-paced environment. You'll engage with guests at the bar, take and process food and drink orders, prepare cocktails to spec, and ensure the bar remains fully stocked, clean, and organized. You'll also support the service bar, fulfilling drink orders for the dining room while working collaboratively with the Front of House team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests according to Nick's recipes and presentation standards.
  • Take and process guest food and drink orders at the bar while fulfilling service bar tickets for dining room guests.
  • Engage with guests in a friendly, welcoming manner, ensuring they have a memorable experience.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized bar area, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption, verify guest IDs, and adhere to all state and federal liquor laws.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service by recognizing and handling situations involving intoxicated guests appropriately.
  • Manage cash and credit transactions accurately, following Nick's payment policies.
  • Maintain inventory control, assist with liquor requisitions, and ensure proper stock levels.
  • Work as part of a team-service approach, collaborating with colleagues to maintain a stress-free and engaging work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor, embodying Nick's values of Excellence, Teamwork, Respect, and Accountability.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar.
  • TIPS certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and classic cocktail preparation.
  • A passion for hospitality and the ability to provide a welcoming and engaging bar experience.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Experience handling cash, credit transactions, and POS systems.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, per state and federal alcohol service regulations.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Working as a Bartender at Nick's requires energy, agility, and endurance. Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods (6-10 hours per shift).
  • Lift and carry cases of beer, liquor, and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive motions, including shaking, stirring, and pouring drinks.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, often moving quickly behind the bar.
  • Navigate a crowded bar area while balancing multiple drink orders.
