Dermatology Medical Assistant (Pre PA/MD/RN)

Locations: Newport Beach and Yorba Linda

Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to our physicians and physician assistants. You will work closely with our healthcare team to ensure our patients receive the best possible care. This is a great opportunity for students before or after they graduate to work towards your hours for PA school.

Responsibilities:

-Greet and check-in patients, obtain and verify patient information

-Prepare exam rooms for patient visits, stock necessary supplies

-Assist with patient exams and procedures, including obtaining and recording vital signs, collecting and processing specimens, and performing EKGs

-Administer medications and vaccines as directed by physician or physician assistant

-Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality of patient information

-Answer phones and triage patient calls, schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits

-Perform administrative duties, such as managing patient referrals and processing insurance claims

-Assist with other tasks as needed to ensure smooth operation of the healthcare facility

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent

-Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills

-Ability to work well in a team environment

-Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

-Proficient in computer skills

-Hard working with a willingness to learn

-Ability to take constructive criticism

-Full hands on training and experience in patient care

-Opportunities for shadowing hours with a Chapman graduate Physician Assistant

-Access to multiple specialties such as oncology, dermatology and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

-Full scribing experience

-First assist in procedures in office (biopsies, excisions, cosmetic procedures)

-Access to operating room shadowing

-Hands-on patient care experience with more than 7 different providers

-Hands-on experience with patients such as performing suture and staple removals, wound management and light therapies.

-Opportunity to work in Mohs surgery (a dermatological procedure involving removing skin cancer in an office setting)

-Providers such as dermatologists and plastic and reconstructive surgeons that can write letters of recommendation on a needed basis.

-Opportunities to learn the medical management of complex oncological cases, including thorough charting procedures as well as coding mechanisms.

- Opportunity to attend monthly Tumor Board multispecialty meeting, and monthly cosmetic surgery meeting.
