JOB PURPOSE: As a direct report to Title IX Coordinator/Clery Officer and Associate Dean, the Assistant Director, Campus Advocacy Resources Education and Support is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of training and other holistic education programs to help prevent violence on campus. Topics may include, but are not limited to, sexual violence, dating and domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, discrimination, consent, bystander intervention and online personal safety. They are also responsible for direct oversight support services at the College related to addressing gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence on campus. This position is committed to prevention and support that is grounded in community needs, as well as comprehensive, trauma informed, evidence based and intersectional approaches.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reporting directly to the Title IX Coordinator/Clery Officer and Associate Dean, the Assistant Director, Campus Advocacy Resources Education and Support performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Initiate and plan training and programming for the campus community regarding violence prevention, risk reduction and education strategies.
- Prepare and conduct training in the areas of Title IX, Clery, sexual violence, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment and discrimination.
- Respond to workshop and training requests, utilizing current best-practices.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive strategic plan for the prevention of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and discrimination at the College.
- Provide direct oversight of and regular supervision, training, support for the CARES Campus Advocates.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and discrimination. Work with the Title IX & Clery teams to assist with policy development, compliance review, assessment and annual reports.
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications to create College-wide educational publications (print and web) and marketing campaigns.
- Assist with the evaluation and assessment of programs on a regular basis, maintaining records of program effectiveness.
- Assists in providing initial care, support and advocacy to those who report incidences of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and/or discrimination. Provides information and referral services to campus and community resources.
- Partner with Campus Life and Housing and Residence Life to communicate compliance and violence prevention to all incoming students (First Year, Transfer, and International) through orientation programs and information distribution.
- Ensure that compliance records regarding prevention education and support services are accurate and kept current.
- Administer, manage and monitor programming & training budgets for peer programs.
- Collaborate with new and existing campus partners, e.g., Project Sister Family Services, EmPOWER Center, Housing and Residence Life, Queer Resources Center, Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services, and other Consortium partners.
- Other projects and duties assigned by the Title IX Coordinator/Clery Officer and Associate Dean.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Master's degree in related field (e.g. Education, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience that includes direct supervision of young adults/student staff in leadership positions; crisis intervention and/or personal support/counseling services for individuals who have experienced sexual violence, dating/domestic violence and/or stalking; leadership of prevention programs/initiatives; and program and event planning.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS: This position must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using other skills and abilities not listed below.
- Ability to coordinate activities with other College offices or organizations that impact on or relate to performance of responsibilities.
- Knowledge of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, intersectionality, trauma informed and public health and social justice approaches and best practices in violence prevention. Familiarity with related local, state, and federal guidelines and legislation.
- Knowledge of best practices for crisis intervention, advocacy and support for individuals who have experienced and/or have been impacted by sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and/or discrimination.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops, including facilitation of difficult dialogue.
- Ability to synthesize a wide variety of data and compile appropriate reports using spreadsheets and other appropriate software.
- Ability to be flexible, work well independently and with teams and work well with and seek appropriate supervision.
- Demonstrated effectiveness, clarity and critical analysis of verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills. Must handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact, and a keen eye for detail while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook) and associated professional software (such as Workday, Advocate, Internet research, menu-driven databases, social media networking). Demonstrated understanding of the use of technology to achieve annual goals and maintain confidentiality. Possess knowledge of methods and techniques to facilitate student outreach activities.
- Prioritize and perform multiple projects/tasks, meet deadlines/timelines, respond to others in a timely manner, handle interruptions from students and incoming phone calls, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the college with a high standard of integrity and ethics, in support of the College's strategic vision and the division's/department's annual goals.
- Enforce FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality as required; advise constituencies on FERPA and college privacy restrictions.
- Employ appropriate organizational and time management skills to complete work with accuracy and a keep attention to detail.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, except during the designated summer period when office hours end at 4:30 p.m. Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: The rate for this role is between $85,000 to $90,000 with a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
