Summary
Operating Title Sexual Health Educator Long Classification Title HEALTH ED/COUNSELOR II Campus Location Durham Department UNH Health & Wellness Summary of Position
Under the direction and supervision of Director of Education and Promotion, this position provides expertise in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of comprehensive sex education.
This position is responsible for using a researched-based public health approach to design, deliver and assess well-being and comprehensive sex education (CSE) programs to the UNH Durham community in accordance with the UNH Comprehensive Interpersonal Violence Prevention Plan. This position works closely with the organization's medical team, wellness coaches, health educators and campus partners.
The Sexual Well-Being Educator/Counselor is a subject-matter expert on sexual health and sexual well-being and as such serves as a consultant to the UNH community through representation on campus committees and initiatives. Additionally, this position is responsible for designing, recruiting, and managing the sexual health internship program. The role requires a strong skill set and knowledge in overall health and wellness, expertise in sex education, social justice, public health, cultural competency, public speaking and group facilitation, health communications, and supervision.

  • Master's degree in public health, health education, or related science.
  • 3-5 years of health education/ public health/ sex education experience within higher education.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Designing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based public health initiatives, including but not limited to curriculum design, social marketing campaigns/health communications.
  • Deep knowledge in comprehensive sex education and wellness.
  • Strong written, verbal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong commitment to and knowledge regarding social justice and anti-oppression.
  • Supervision of students that meets learning and programmatic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of college health.
