Sewing Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Sewing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the sewing department during 1st shift. This role ensures production targets are achieved, quality standards are upheld, and safety protocols are strictly followed. The supervisor provides leadership to sewing operators, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Reporting Relationships:

The Sewing Supervisor will report to the Sewing Manager

Location: This position will be based in Hialeah, FL

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Shift Management: Direct and coordinate sewing team activities to meet production schedules and maintain workflow. Coordinate handoff with other supervisors. Maintain clear communication with second-shift team.
  • Team Leadership: Coach, train, and support sewing operators, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and inspect output to ensure compliance with quality standards; implement corrective measures when necessary.
  • Production Tracking: Record and report daily output, promptly addressing issues affecting performance.
  • Collaboration: Partner with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve equipment or process concerns.
  • Workplace Safety: Enforce safety regulations, conduct briefings, and report hazards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and support initiatives that enhance quality and productivity.
  • Employee Development: Provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities to strengthen team skills and performance.
  • Attendance & Overtime Management: Review and approve attendance and overtime while balancing production demands with cost controls.
  • Communication: Maintain strong written and verbal communication to ensure alignment and coordination across teams.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in sewing, textiles, or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of sewing operations, equipment, and production processes.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and resolve issues quickly.
  • Knowledge of quality control systems and safety standards.
