Overview

The Upholstery Apprentice position is designed for an individual eager to learn a skilled trade, this position provides practical experience in upholstery, furniture repair, and reupholstering. They will learn a valuable trade through hands-on training and mentorship. The Apprentices works under the guidance of an experienced Upholsterer while building the knowledge and skills needed for success in the craft to include upholstery techniques, materials, tools, safety procedures, and craftsmanship standards that will provide them with skills necessary to perform upholstery work independently. During their apprenticeship they will assist the Upholsterer in the repair, maintenance, and reupholstering of gaming chairs, restaurant seating, office furnishings, and gaming table components.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
  • Assist with removal, transport, and installation of furniture and gaming table components.
  • Support upholstery projects by preparing materials, tools, and work areas.
  • Learn basic measuring, cutting, fitting, and installation techniques.
  • Assist in replacing foam, padding, vinyl, leather, and fabric materials.
  • Help clean, maintain, and organize upholstery tools and shop equipment.
  • Perform basic repairs under the direction of the Upholsterer.
  • Observe and learn sewing machine operation and upholstery fabrication methods.
  • Assist with inventory counts and stocking of materials and supplies.
  • Maintain safe work practices and follow department procedures.
  • Participate in training and skill-development activities.
  • Perform general labor and support duties related to upholstery operations.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Jackson Rancheria Gaming License.
  • Ca. Class C driver license required - must be vehicle insurable through Jackson Rancheria's Agent.

Pay range: $21.00 - $27.30 per hour

 *Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am. 

This is not a smoke free workplace.  Although we employ state-of-the-art air filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment.
