You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) mission and operations;
  • Possess demonstrated experience in applying SEVP regulations, practices and policies;
  • Possess demonstrated experience interpreting SEVP regulations and policies and providing direct guidance to an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or to nonimmigrant international students.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program(SEVP) mission and operations and demonstrated experience in applying its regulations, practices and policies;
  • Possess demonstrated experience interpreting SEVP regulations and policies and providing direct guidance to an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or to nonimmigrant international students;
  • Possess demonstrated hands-on experience, including accessing the SEVIS database on a regular basis, working with an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or with nonimmigrant international students.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
