Set Electricians, also known as lighting technicians or 'sparks,' are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the electrical and lighting equipment on film, television, or theater sets. They work closely with the gaffer and director of photography to achieve the desired lighting effects for each scene. Their duties include running cables, rigging lights, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring all equipment complies with safety standards. Set Electricians play a crucial role in creating the visual mood and ensuring the safe operation of all electrical elements during production.

To thrive as a Set Electrician, you need a solid understanding of electrical systems, lighting setups, and safety protocols, typically supported by vocational training or relevant certifications. Familiarity with lighting consoles, dimmer systems, power distribution equipment, and industry-standard safety certifications like OSHA are commonly required.
