Description:

DC Green Bank is looking for a driven Communications & Design Intern with a basic understanding of strategic communications and graphic design to support our team. The Communications & Design Intern can expect to participate in the development of press releases and media relations materials, take and edit photos and video related to DCGB work, and design social media and communications materials that elevate the impact of DC Green Bank. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Communications & Outreach Manager to draft press releases, newsletters, and other pertinent communications materials related to DC Green Bank work.
  • Work with the Communications & Outreach Manager to create strategic communications materials and calendars for the organization.
  • Design social media and communications materials to support public communications and outreach efforts related to DC Green Bank projects and investments.
  • Capture and edit photos and video content for use on DC Green Bank social media channels, website, and for dissemination through other channels.
  • Support the Communications & Outreach Manager to plan and execute community engagement events.
  • Make recommendations for and participate in social media management and posts.
  • Support the development of visual materials for public consumption that educate our audiences about our mission, values, projects, investments, and other important information.
  • Interns are encouraged to develop and deliver projects during their tenure that build their experience and portfolio to bolster their resume for future career opportunities.

Duration: Mid-June to September 2026, up to 20 hours/week

Location: Requirement of 2 workdays a week in the office. Must be able to commute to the office located in Washington, D.C.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be a degree-seeking student, preferably junior, senior, or graduate student status.
  • Completed at least two undergraduate communications, graphic design, public relations, or media strategy courses. Coursework, experience, and/or demonstrated interest in the energy and environment sectors. Preference for coursework in finance and/or economics.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interns are expected to demonstrate creativity as well as initiative.
  • Experience with graphic design, video editing, and creating attention-grabbing social media content. Experience with the Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and Canva is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to ask questions to clarify assignments.
  • Candidates should have regular access to the internet while working remotely.
  • Commitment to the mission of DC Green Bank.
  • Must be eligible to legally work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
