Field Service Technician (Field Mechanic)

Location: Amarillo, TX
Reports to: Service Manager
Travel: Required
Compensation: $40.00 to $48.00 hour based on experience and benefits (details below)

We’re looking for experienced Field Service Technicians - Field Mechanics that are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, etc.), as well as over the road trucks (Mack, Volvo, Peterbilt), and trailers. Must have experience as a mechanic with electrical and hydraulics (heavy equipment and cranes are preferred).

What You’ll DO


  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
  • Test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations
  • Properly fill out working reports, hour reports, time sheets, hour overviews, work orders, and expense reports
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites and in service vehicles
  • Operate and inspect cranes to diagnose defects
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Manage time effectively to complete jobs on schedule


What We’re Looking For


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician
  • Knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON systems is preferred
  • Dealership or manufacturer training and experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment preferred, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc, Liebherr, Terex, Tadano.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment is preferred including Mack/Volvo/Peterbilt Trucks, trailers, and forklifts
  • Experience with Cummins INSITE preferred
  • Knowledge of hydraulic electrical schematics is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
  • Ability to work independently is required
  • Travel is required, up to 75% to 80%
  • Field Service Technicians must have their own personal standard and heavy-duty mechanical tools to complete field repair jobs. A tool inventory list will be completed to provide company insurance coverage.

Working conditions

The employee may be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the workplace is moderate.

Specialty tools will be provided by the company and must be returned upon termination.

Travel is required periodically for 1-to-4-day intervals, for non-local service technicians, there is a 4-week rotation with 1-week off
